I sketched Spuhura

I wanted to do it for a while, but I was worried that I wouldn't get them right. It is rare that I work on art from a character portrayed by an actor or actress because of that. It is not ZQ or ZS but I like how they look so far. There's a likeness... :) I'm not sure if this first sketch will make to the colouring stage, but I have started. Will post the WIP soonish.

UPDATE:
Spock and Uhura sketched goodness under the cut... )

It is not perfect, I know this, but I've already started correcting booboos in both figure's arms, his pecks and the fabric flow of his sleeve and her dress on paper. It is my hope to start painting it tomorrow. But maybe I'll work on another sketch first... :D

Roy and Lisa for Maelstrom

Robotecha has been updated. It only took four months... ;)

Enter Roy and Lisa for Maelstrom by Jo_anderson_rt (very nice read, carefully and slowly developed AU relationship, btw)

Here's a little animation of the process )

Funny thing, my significant other thought Lisa was holding an oversized beer mug at first glance! "What's wrong with the cup?" he asked... LOL

Speed paintin'

So, this was a special kind of week for me and I needed something to cheer me up. I found an amazing speed painting video (a set of four, actually) by BikerScout. And I thought that I wanted to give his techniques a try. I really enjoyed it. This was done in about 4 hours (I'm a newbie at this, what can I say?), without any reference for shading or form. There were lots of mistakes and corrections around the eye/eyebrow area.

Stages of the result of my foray and close up details of final piece )
